Bakeloko Support Team Training Commences in Port Loko District

PORT LOKO DISTRICT, Sierra Leone – A weeklong training program for the Bakeh Loko Support Team officially began today, marking a key milestone in the preparation of local personnel for the upcoming Customary Land Registration (CLR) process.

The training is designed to equip Support Team members with the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to assist in field activities and community engagement.

Participants are currently engaged in intensive sessions covering the fundamentals of the CLR process, effective communication strategies for community outreach, and the specific responsibilities they will shoulder during project implementation. The training also emphasizes the role of support staff in facilitating smooth collaboration between land rights holders and technical teams.

The initiative prioritizes local ownership and grassroots participation.

The Bakeh Loko chiefdom, located in Port Loko District, is among the first areas where field teams have commenced operations.

The selection of Sendugu, Kondato, Sanda, and Falaba sections for the initial phase reflects a strategic approach to introducing customary land registration in the region.

Upon completion of the training, support team members will be deployed to assist with community sensitization, land boundary identification, and documentation activities, working alongside field technicians and customary authorities.
