BOUNDARY HARMONISATION EVENT | MAPAKI VILLAGE

On 21st August 2026, a Boundary Harmonisation Event was successfully conducted in Mapaki Village, Paki Masabong Chiefdom, Bombali District, as part of the ongoing Customary Land Rights Registration process.

The event brought together land-owning families, community stakeholders, and representatives from the National Land Commission, Sierra Leone Land Administration Project (SLLAP) and Medici Land Governance (MLG).

The session provided an important platform for communities to collectively review, discuss, and agree on shared boundaries.

Following the presentation and explanation of the boundary map by Medici Project Coordinator Bankolay Turay, participants engaged in constructive discussions, asked questions, and sought clarifications on the proposed boundaries. This was followed by map verification and the signing of Boundary Harmonisation Agreement (BHA) forms by the relevant parties.

The successful completion of the exercise demonstrates the importance of community participation, transparency, dialogue, and consensus-building in strengthening land governance and securing customary land rights.

Working together today for secure and recognised land rights tomorrow.
